CERTAIN RISKS YOU SHOULD NEVER TAKE IN LIFE

Posted by  on November 21st, 2020.

Risk, to my understanding, is the possibility of an adverse effect coming to light in a particular engagement. It simply means that something bad could happen when one does something. It is a general knowledge that certain heights can only be attained when risks are taken, in other words, if you don’t take risks you will not get to some places in life.
Risks are important elements in our journey to success but, plainly speaking, I do not think all risks are to be taken. A mistake many people make is rushing to take risks, probably blinded by the gain/profit involved, and at the end they fall apart. They simply leave out the most essential thing needed in taking risks, WISDOM; yes! wisdom.
According to the English dictionary, wisdom is the ability to make a decision based on the combination of knowledge, experience, and intuitive understanding. This means that you must decide on a particular risk based on what you know, the experience of people that have passed through the path and how well you understand what you know about the risk you are about to take. Imagine buying a piece of yam in the dark with your last cash and when you get home, you put on the light and discover that half of the yam is spoilt, you go back to where you bought the yam and the seller is no longer there, your money is gone and you are left with a half-rotten yam along with irreversible regrets. Never take risks without knowing what is involved.
One of the risks any man or woman should not think of taking is rushing to get free things. Let me tell a short story to explain: A man established a zoo, he had brought in exotic breeds of animals to make people’s visit to the zoo worth it. He made the entrance fee #50,000, no one came. He reduced the fee to #40, 000, no one came. He further reduced it #20, 000, yet no one showed up. Finally, he made it free and when he did, people trooped in with their families and loved ones till the zoo was filled with people. He quietly locked the zoo’s main gate, set the lions free and made the exit fee #150,000; the people had no option but to pay.
MORAL OF THE STORY
If you run after “free” things, you end up losing more than you bargained for. As you go in life beware of free offers.
i. Most of the time they are big traps.
ii. Behind every free gift there is high possibility of an ulterior motive.
iii. You may lose your life trying to get a free ride.
iv. You may lose your money trying to get free airtime or data.
Note that most promotions on the internet, Facebook and WhatsApp platforms are big scams. Today, we live in a human society where there is no free lunch. The ‘tat’ you would give for the ‘tit’ you received could be too costly for you. Everything with value is valuable; it can never be actually or totally free.
BE WISE!!!
